Description

The Division of Pediatric Interventional Radiology at Boston Children’s Hospital Boston is accepting applications for a one-year fellowship program for the academic year 2026-2027. Candidates must be certified in Diagnostic Radiology by the American Board of Radiology or its equivalent. Eligible applicants are also expected to have completed a prior pediatric or interventional radiology fellowship or an IR residency program.

The pediatric interventional radiology fellow will be exposed to a wide spectrum of vascular and nonvascular interventions as they apply to children. Among the interventions commonly performed are the treatment of vascular anomalies (embolization, sclerotherapy, and laser ablation), tissue biopsy, drainage, enteric and venous accesses, peripheral and neurovascular angiography and interventions, radiofrequency and cryo-ablation, and biliary and GU interventions.

The Division performs over 3000 image-guided procedures annually. It is currently staffed by six interventional radiologists, two neurointerventionalists, five pediatric nurse practitioners, a physician assistant, and a dedicated team of interventional technologists and nurses. Two funded interventional radiology fellowship positions are available per year, and rotating PGY6 IR residents assume the responsibilities of a fellow. The IR division will move to four new IR suites in 2026, with an additional room in a satellite location. The Department of Anesthesia provides daily coverage.

Boston Children's Hospital is Harvard Medical School's flagship pediatric hospital. Opportunities for clinical and basic research are available, encouraged, and supported. Research and elective time are provided. Learning opportunities are also available through didactic lectures and weekly interdisciplinary conferences.
